About Edit Resource

Founded in 1998, Edit Resource has grown to become one of the most respected independent editorial firms in Christian publishing. Our publisher clients include Thomas Nelson, Zondervan, WaterBrook, Tyndale, NavPress, David C Cook, Baker Books, and others. We also work directly with authors on select projects. While we specialize in fiction and nonfiction for a Christian audience, we often edit and write books in categories such as self-help, wellness, history, memoir, cookbooks, photography, and business. Our projects include both traditionally published and self-published books for adults, teens, and children.

The owners of Edit Resource, Eric and Elisa Stanford, take on some projects personally and assign others to the independent contractors on their team.

Edit Resource - Eric Stanford
Eric Stanford
Eric started editing books independently after working in-house at an educational publisher. He founded Edit Resource with the vision to work for publishers, with authors, and on behalf of readers to create great books. Since then, he has been the editor or co-writer of numerous well-reviewed and bestselling books. Eric holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Judson University and a master’s degree in theology from Gordon-Conwell Seminary.

“Eric Stanford is a master craftsman. His ability to shape manuscripts, hone concepts, and coach such a broad array of communicators never ceases to amaze me. He’s attentive, detail oriented, and incredibly attuned to the author’s goals and vision. There are few as reliable and creative as Eric—he is a value add to any project.”

Elisa Stanford

Elisa was an acquisitions and developmental editor with Harold Shaw Publishers and WaterBrook Press before joining Edit Resource in 2005. Today she does a lot of copy writing, takes on a small number of editing projects, and coordinates Edit Resource’s team of associated editors. Elisa has a bachelor’s degree in history from Illinois Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in spiritual formation from Wheaton Graduate School.

"Elisa Stanford is a genius. She somehow finds a way to crawl into your writing and help you find the gold. She is able to capture an author’s voice, hone what’s already there, and help to think through a structure that flows. I couldn’t more highly recommend her work, and on top of that she is pure delight to work with.”
